We are almost ice free now and fishing very well!
Lots of good fish were taken over the weekend and our last stocking seems to of woken the resident fish up.

Looks like the winter is not finished with us yet! We have a bit of ice on the lochs this morning but fishing is still possable, if your planning a trip to see us this weekend it might be best to give us a call at the shop first.
We are planning a big stocking of the ponds tomorrow with some cracking fish that i have had in the holding ponds for over 6 months now.

Some nice fish have been taken over the past week at the fishery, with buzzers and blood worm being the main catchers.
B Anderson had 10 on buzzers for his session, W.S.Scott caught 9 on a fritz, R Phillips had 8 on a bloodworm.J Sinclare had 1 his best a fish of 11lb, S Wright also caught 8 on buzzers and L Alexander caught 4 using scruffs, his best a fish of 9lb.

A BIG thank you to everyone who turned up for the christmas compy, the weather man did get it wrong and sunday was a cold frosty day.It was that cold the the eyes on the rods were freezing up.A extra BIG thanks to Hammy snr who worked hard all day saturday to keep the ice at bay for us.
Zander christie took the top prize, after hiding in the shop most of the day he decided to change method, he put on a indicator and a lure and had his three fish one after the other on the same peg.
Robbie from hopeman took second and the heaviest fish. G Gormley and D Muir were tied on third place.
The fishery will be open every day through out the festive time so if you are lucky enough to get a new rod from santa or if you are in need of some fresh air after to much christmas pud come and have a cast.

The weather man says its going to be fine for this sundays fishing compy...lets hope he is right!
The main loch is still ice free and all ready for sunday.We are going to give it a stock on saturday just to stir it up a bit for the competition, we are also going to put in some extra taggers just to spice it up.

I am happy to say that despite the hard frost over the last few days that the fishery is still ice free!
and even better, its fishing well.
I said last week that W.S.Scott had 20 fish for his outing, well i was wrong because when i looked at the book at night he had finished on 31..his best on the day a fish of 6lb..a great days fishing.
Shane had 9 fish for his 4 hours and Allan had 4 fish. Gogs Robertson had 8 fish one at just over 10lb and M Morrison had 9 for his outing.
There are only 9 places left for the christmas compy(sunday the 18th) so get your name down asap. £100 is the top prize and we have prizes for the top 5 fishers.

The wind and weather over the last week has kept a lot of fishers away but those that have braved the gale force winds have caught plenty of fish.
Buzzers are the top catchers just now but lures and even drys are still catching.
B Anderson hade a great session catching 19 on buzzers while his fishing companion W.S.Scott had 9,Just spoke to W.S.Scott who is back for another try and he is on 20 fish for his day so far, all caught on buzzers.
R Phillips caught 5 on suspended buzzers and S Archibald had 4 on various.
Our christmas compy will be held on the 18th of december this year, there are only 20 places so if you want to take part you better get your name down asap!

Fishing has been pretty steady over the last week or so at kellas.Most methods are still catching fish, evn the drys are still taking fish!
We are planning a christmas compy again this year and will be putting the date up asap.
M Anderson had a good session catching 10 on lures, J Mckail had 10 on okay dokays, R Phillips had 12 on a suspended buzzer, D Fraser had 7 on various and B Ward also had 7 fish on various flys.Zander had 7 fish and a btoken rod, but the broken rod did not stop him catching, he just used the top section and still managed to land a nice fish about the 5lb mark.

A BIG thank you to everyone who took part in the Bob Miller memorial competition.The weather was perfect and the crack was great, oh the fishing was not to bad also.
Chris Johnston was the winner with the best three fish and Bobs mum was kind enough to present him with the trophy, well done chris.
I also must thank the seaforth club for there visit on sunday.

Just a quick reminder that this sunday is the Bob Miller memorial competition.Its going to be a bit different from the norm this time as we want a fun day in memory of our friend.Bobs Mum and Dad will present the winner with the Bob Miller memorial cup and £100.

Its been a bit of hit or miss over the last 10 days at the fishery. One day the fish are feeding hard on the top and the next they are down in the water a bit.Still those who change to suit the conditions are able to catch fish.
R Phillips had a bag of 13 on drys and cdc's D Fraser caught 5.J Mckail had a nice fish of around the 5.5lb mark on one session and a fish of about 6.5 lb the next.M Morrison had 9 on cdc's and w.s.scott had 13 on his pink blob.The best fish to of been caught of late fell to C Hamilton, we never weighed it but it was around the 18lb mark..well done Hammy jnr.
Just a reminder about the Bob Miller memorial fishing comp.It will be held on the 23 of this month and we are all looking forward to a good day in fond memory of our mate.A few places are still to be filled.Please contact me or the fishery asap if you want to take part.

We have had Some good catches over the last week at the fishery, but the fish have been playing a bit hard to get the last couple of days.
J Munro had a great couple of hours catching 23 on what can only be described as a big pink fluffy thing! R Phillips had 12 on Bloodworms, W.S Scott had 16 on a pink blob, G Lyffle had a 6lber on lure, I Morrison had 8 on cdc's, G Robertson had 5 on various flys, J Mckail had 6 on black hoppers.

Well we had some day yesterday for our monthly comp..it rained and rained and rained some more but the 15 fishers that turned up all braved the weather and just about everyone caught fish.
Zipper came first weighing in 3 fish for just under 14lb.B Mone came second and R Phillips came 3rd.

Some good catches over the past week at the fishery.Some warmer weather has brought on some great hatches of fly that have really got the fish going.
R Phillips had a graet session catching 22 fish,all on drys.W.S.Scott had 18 on his fritz, the best one a fish of 5lb.J Hughes had 16 on buzzers and drys,J Mckail had 6 on drys and buzzers,A Thompson caught 8 on buzzers, C Milne had a nice fish of 10lb,Williamson had 18 on hoppers,K Cryle had a fish of 6lb on a montana.
Lets hope the weather stays good for a while and the fish keep biting!

Rain and more rain! but the fish are still biting.
Is it not meant to be summer? For those that have been keen to stand out in the rain the fishing has been quite good with buzzers and small drys still catching the best.But no one has caught the big lad yet!

The fishing has not been that easy over the last week, the river rose quick and made the lochs a bit coloured but am happy to say its looking better today.
Even though the going was hard last week we still had some good catches.R Phillips had 8 on buzzers and drys, S Mortam had a 7lber, T Anderson had one at 8lb, B Anderson had a nice 12lb fish,S Scott caught 8 on various flys AND j Adams had one at 7lb in his catch of 7.
Our next open compy will be held on sunday the 28th of August and names are going fast already.

Some cracking fish being caught an all methods just now.
C Johnston(elgin) had a 6lber RPhillips(elgin) had one at 7lb C Milne had one at 7lb, A Cook(elgin) had a bag of 14 his best one at 5lb and on his second visit had 15,his best a fish of 6.5lb, Kenzie Meldrum aged 4 had a 7.5lb cracker from the bait loch,R Mackenzie(burghead) had a 7lb fish on a orange nomad, and D Odriscal had a 16lber on a blood worm.He had a great fight from his biggest fish yet, but its not the new fishery record fish that we put in on friday so someone is still in for a bit of a fright when they hook it.

Sunday was our pairs compy and we had a great turn out. It was a close run thing but Sandy Taylor andJohn Mcenzie were the winners weighing in 22.8lb.Sandy had a couple of crackers.zipper and Zander were close behind weighing in 21.4lb Ron Phillips and Robin Berry came 3rd weighing in 17.8lb.
Zipper had the biggest fish of the day at 12.5lb.
The lochs are fishing very well just now with some of the larger fish being caught on small flys.
Ron Phillips had one at 7.5lb, W.S.Scott had one at 6lb while Terry Lotts had a 13lb cracker among his catch of 12.

I am Back
Sorry for the lack of news from the fishery over the past two weeks, i have been having computer problems but am back up and running now.
We have the pairs fishing comp this sunday...the winning pair take away £250 between them.
Due to a last min drop out we have a place for one pair remaining.
Dry flys are the top catchers just now with shipmens buzzers coming in close behind.The fish are feeding hard on the top just now so if your coming leave the lures and bring some wee flys.

A big thank you to pupils from Forres Academy who spent three days fishing with us last week.The fish were biting and just about everone caught fish.
Alana and Skye Munro both 5 had there first go at fishing last saturday and they both done very well catching five fish between them.
W.S.Scott from lossie had a good sesion catching 11 fish on buzzers and drys.G Ross caught 9 all on drys and I Morrison caught 12 for his sesion.

We had a great day on sunday for our monthly fishing competition.Most folk started catching from there first peg but Jock Royan was always a couple of fish ahead of his fellow competitors. Jock finished the day with 18 fish and a comfortable lead over the rest.He took home £100 and is the first person to get his name on the fishery cup.

Just to remind everyone that we have a competition on this sunday. Its a no. of fish caught compy but with a wee twist.You weigh in your first two fish then every other fish you catch is worth a pound to the weight of your first two fish.

Fish are being caught on all methods just now but stripping a lure fast across the suface has to be one of the most exciting methods at this time of year .The takes can be fast and savage and several fishers were broken using this method last week.

The bright sunshine has made fishing a little bit more difficult at time but those that persist have been rewarded with some nice fish.Early mornings and evening are about the best time to try when the weather is like this.

The changeable weather has had the fishing going up and down like yo yos last week at the mill of kellas trout fishery.
Saturday and Sunday seen the fish taking viciously from the top and now that the temp has dropped they are down a little bit.

Spring is in the air...so was anything that was not tied down today with the gale of wind.
The weather did not stop cousins Josh Miller and Aaron Quinn from catching fish.Aaron had 3 out of the bait loch on his first try fishing and Josh had one from the Big loch on the fly and 1 from the bait loch by special request from the owner..

Fishing Report/Trout Masters

Some great sport was had over the last week at the mill of kellas trout fishery with some beautiful looking/hard fighting over wintered fish being caught on most methods, but the lures are still out fishing buzzers.That will all change now the water temp is starting to rise.
J Bremner(findochty) at last broke his unlucky run and managed 2 fish while D Bremner(findochty) caught 8.S Maguire (kyle) had 12 fish his best a fish of 5lb 12oz.W.S.Scott had another great session catching 20 with the best one a fish of 7lb.
The trout Masters fish of was held on sunday and we had a great turn out.Plenty of the bigger fish kept eveyone on there toes.
G Robertson(elgin) won the seniors weighing in two beautiful over wintered fish for just over 15lb.B Mone(elgin) took the juniors prize with a fish of 5lb2oz.
C Hamilton had the best fish of the day at 10lb.

W.S.Scott decided to have a couple of hours fishing yesterday since it was his birthday.He ended his session with 19 fish the best a cracking fish of 6lb.

The fishing was just starting to come good with plenty of fish being caught but after that sudden fall of snow it became a bit more difficult and the fish became a bit dour.Thankfully its all gone now and with the rise in temp the fish are back on the feed.Jnr Fisher Josh Miller from Elgin showed the older/wiser boys how to do it on sunday catching 5 good fish on his practice for the trout masters.
D Fraser (forres) had six on a green buzzer, E Kane (portgordon) had 9 fish for his session,R Phillips (elgin) had 5, D Bremner (findochty) had 4 on blood worms, W.S Scott(lossie) had another good session catching 13 his best a 8lb fish, B Anderson(lossie) had 14 with another 8lb fish being his best and W Bain had 6 fish his best a fish of 7lb.
Trout masters this sunday and boy oh boy do i have one or two nice fish going in this weekend for it.

What a change in the weather! We now have snow again but all the lochs are ice free and open for fishing.
The sudden cold snap has put the fish off a little bit but they can still be caught if you find the right depth/fly combo.

Did someone put some funny fish feed in the water or something? Was one of the questions a fisher asked me on sunday.I was not sure what he was talking about untill i realised it was the no. of fish being caught he was talking about.
Some great catches over the last week, with lots of super fighting over wintered fish falling to most methods.I even seen a few getting caught on the drys despite the cold wind.

The little rise in temp has really got the fish going the last couple of weeks with plenty of fish being caught on all methods, infact i am looking at the book now and its been over two weeks since we have had a blank.
